Innocent Wachimwa

Innocent returned to Malawi in 2015 after completing his 3 years at GWC and SBBC, and has since been serving as a pastor and lecturer in rural Blantyre. Currently, he pastors Namisu Zambezi Evangelical Church which has two out-stations, and has founded a pre-school. He also leads a number of Bible studies in the villages where he teaches men and women the Word of God.

Innocent’s congregations were very badly affected by Cyclone Freddy in February 2023. Many lives were lost, families displaced and crops destroyed.  Thanks to the support received from our partners, Innocent was able to supply much-needed maize to the families affected by the disaster.

Innocent was also recently appointed as  Deputy General Secretary of the Zambezi Evangelical Church (ZEC), a large Malawian denomination founded by English missionary, Joseph Booth, in 1892. There are now over 250 trained pastors leading ZEC congregations across Malawi. Innocent’s role is to oversee the day-to-day affairs of the denomination.
